This research investigates advanced downstream processing strategies for the recovery of microbial products, such as lipids and terpenes, that serve as precursors for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). These compounds are produced via fermentation of renewable substrates using oleaginous microorganisms. Efficient recovery involves optimizing cell disruption methods, identifying environmentally friendly solvent systems, and developing precise analytical techniques, while also evaluating the overall sustainability and economic feasibility of the processes.
