Project description

The project examines the accomodation of indifenous law within Ecuador's legal framework and international human rights law, focusing on pre-trial detention rights, due process of law, and traditional punishments, as well as clashes of jurisdiction between indigenous and national authorities. The project contributes to the debate regarding the necessity of a Coordination Act that allows the coexistence of several legal systems.
