Project description

Early childhood care and education can yield beneficial effecrts in particular for children from migrant and poor families. Yet, the educational system in Flanders tends to reproduce societal inequalities. The present qualitative research will follow children from migrant and poor families in their first year of preschool. Combined with interviews from parents and teachers, this will shed some light on the conditions under which ECEC can play an equalising role.
