Project description

HighTru Lab is an automated, integrated and modular High Throughput platform for response optimization and continuous flow production of medicines in Flanders.

High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) enables the execution of large, parallel series of multivariate experiments through automation and integration of processes. However, it is so capital-intensive that such platforms are not available at academic institutions. As a result, (PhD) students cannot be trained in this specific field, which leads talent to other regions. The lack of such profiles for the Flemish labour market is a particular bottleneck for the pharmaceutical sector.

In addition to fundamental and applied research in the medicinal sector, education and experimentation in chemistry-related courses is therefore indispensable and deserves a thorough anchoring in Flanders.

The HighTru Lab aims to install an automated HTE platform for response optimization that can fill the above gaps in Flanders and thus strengthen the regional anchoring.
