Project description
Geranium is a popular garden plant because of its vigour, hardiness and varied colours. Yet the number of cultivars is limited. This research focuses on new breeding techniques such as interspecific crosses followed by embryo rescue, chromosome number doubling and co-culture with wild-type Rhizobium rhizogenes for compact growth. These new cultivars would not be subject to strict GMO legislation.
