The aim of this project is to develop a prototype reusable thin-walled external prosthesis (iPAD) to make the phallus of transmen sufficiently rigid to allow penetrative sexual contacts with maximum preservation of erogenous sensitivity. This prosthesis will address the shortcomings of the currently available options, being the implantation of an erectile prosthesis (a.o. frequent occurrence of medical complications) or the use of a rigid exoprosthesis (developed primarily for the sex industry, rigid/stiff, thick-walled, excessive design and no attention to preservation of erogenous sensitivity). We also plan to submit a patent application based on the prototype, establish contact with potential licensees and gather user feedback via a focus group of transgender men. Later, the target population for the iPAD may be expanded to include cismen with erectile dysfunction and cismen with retractile penis.
