Project description

The goal of the study is to determine the influence of NPWT on distal limb wound healing in horses. Healing is often protracted due to a deficient but persistent inflammatory response and poor blood perfusion leading to unsufficient wound contraction and hypergranulation tissue formation. It is postulated that NPWT increases the wound oxygenation and leads to an earlier and higher inflammatory peak and subsequent faster normalization.
