Transcranial magnetic stimulation interferes with the normal physiological processing of local brain areas. Application of tms over brain areas that have been identified by fMRI to play a role in certain cognitive functions allows to determineer the causal involvement of specific local brain areas in specific cognitive functions. The technique will be used in the domains of cognitive control, numerical condition and language production.
