Project description

Worldwide, millions of children are involved in street life. Although there is some evidence on the causes of this involvement, little is known on the role of armed conflicts in the phenomenon of street children. This study aims to gain insight into the role of armed conflicts in the dynamics of street life involvement of children in (post-
)conflict contexts. Hereto, four studies will be executed in the (post-)conflict context of Eastern DRCongo: profiles of a large sample of street children will be designed, interviews with children and caregivers on street children’s trajectories will be executed, as also an in-depth longitudinal follow-up of a small sample of children returning
home.
