Project description

The purpose of our project is the analysis and improvement of current care (diagnosis, treatment and follow-up) for patients with a bone or soft tissue sarcoma. Real life data (including medical imaging and pathology) of patients who were discussed, examined and treated by our multidisciplinary tumor working group bone and soft tissue tumors UZGhent during the period 2000-2024 will be completed, analysed and correlated with survival.

A benchmarking exercise with the Karolinska institute will be set up using existing indicators. Secondly, we will participate in a European register and benchmarking based on federated learning. Resulting actions to improve our outcome and/or our registration will be formulated and implemented in care pathways.

For each patient, we will provide a coupling with sample collection for scientific projects, as well as the prospective biobank collection. This will allow us to test traceability of samples and conduct a planned translational scientific project.
