Pelvic exenteration (PE) has a high morbidity and great impact on sexuality and quality of life. The goal of this project is to analyse and improve those outcomes. Our systematic review showed high heterogeneity in measurement of quality of life. Furthermore, sexual
dysfunction in women was significantly underreported after extended surgery. Patients and their potential partner will be interviewed through semi-structured interviews about their sexuality after PE. The barriers and facilitators to discuss sexuality by health care professionals will be mapped throughout a questionnaire and focus group interviews. Lastly, there will be an educational part to teach the pelvic anatomy with origami, planes and borders to improve the insight of (future) surgeons and therefore to improve the outcomes after PE.
