Vietnam is a developing country, where motorbikes are the main way of transportation for the moment. Thus, the environmental pollution is very heavy, the emitted exhaust gases each year excess the standard 1.5 - 5 times. There are some studies on catalysts for motorbike exhaust gases in Vietnam but the treatment is not so effective and the ability for application is small. Therefore, the research for new catalyst systems with guaranteed extended utilization and icreased effectiveness is a big issue. The overall objective of this project is reducing the emission of polluted exhaust gases from motorbikes in Vietnam and contributing to improve life quality of citizens at developing countries. This project also aims to contribute to equip and train human resources for a new established institute on advanced science and technology in Vietnam in order to help this istitute to reach a high international standard level.
The expected results and deliverables of the project are: novel and effective catalysts for the treatment of motorbike exhaust gases, qualified PhD diplomas, publications in international peer-reviewed journals, conference contributions and preparatory input for patents.
