Project description
The study focuses on self-regulation in khat use in Ethiopia. It uses a qualitative, community-based
ethnographic approach to understand khat users’ definitions and reasons for controlled/uncontrolled
use and harm reduction techniques they employ to prevent or minimize the negative effects of
chewing. The study also looks into the perspectives of khat chewers and other stakeholders on khat
regulation.
