The results envisaged in this project are: -Comprehensive knowledge of the (joint) technical suitability and applicability of proposed innovative processes for a number of clearly defined materials, diameters and thickness. - Building up a finite element model which provides insight into the electro-magnetic deformation and welding processes, the material behavior and the final shape can predict, and can speed up the determination of the appropriate parameter settings. - knowledge of the properties of the welded, crimped and formed materials (metallographic structure, hardness, mechanical properties, quality). - A comparison of the capabilities of the new processes to those of the conventional processes, both in technical and in economic terms (cost-benefit analysis). - Cost-benefit analysis for different applications submitted by the industry. - Publications in which the available techniques are discussed; together with the advantages and disadvantages compared to conventional processes, the expected properties, the scope, the investment, the potential cost savings, etc. -. Encouraging the use of new processes in the Flemish SME's and other companies through making the demonstration pieces proposed by those who are representative of potential industrial applications. - Implementation of the new processes in the Flemish industry in order to realize economic benefits.
