Project description

Previous research led to the development of a collaborome concept: a naturally evolved and functional network of cooperating microorganisms that perform specific functions that are crucial for health. The collaboroom has specific advantages over synthetic microbial cocktails and a technical proof-of-concept was demonstrated in the previous IOF StarTT project. In this IOF Advanced project, we take further steps in the valorization process. We will i) perform in vivo preclinical efficacy tests, ii) in silico and in vitro safety tests that focus on transfer of antibiotic resistance, iii) in vivo safety tests with short-term and long-term toxicity tests in animal tests and iv) take the first steps in optimized product formulation.
