Project description

The arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the first choice vascular access for hemodialysis treatment. The general approach of the present project is the generation of patient-specific models of hemodynamics based on medical images and functional measurements. The project aims at providing criteria for surgical planning and prediction of short- and long-term function, onset of steal syndrome and heart failure. Models will be extensively validated in-vitro. In-vivo pilot studies will be performed.
