Project description
This research investigates the expansion of jihadi actors towards the southern Sahel region, from the perspective of Sikasso region, Mali, in the conflict’s periphery. It takes both a micro and macro approach; taking seriously the agency of ‘local’, civilian populations, while investigating the power of ‘universalisms’. It does so by combining anthropology, political economy, critical geography and conflict studies.
