Project description

This research into the use of social interpreting and translation aims to gain clear insight into the ways in which the use of the instruments of social interpreting and translating the social objectives of facilitating (accessibility and optimal task orientation of service) and integration (integration the foreign language) and realize the ways in which these instruments are combined in various sectors weighed, or using them against the use of other available instruments. The research aims at formulating and testing a number of process assumptions in terms of the frequency of use of language supporting resources, institutional decisions by customers and the perceived functionality of the resources and strategies (task-facilitation and promotion of integration). This analysis should enable us to make some recommendations that enhance the use of social interpreting and translating. A second end includes the development of tools to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of social interpreting and translation.
