Project description
In this project I will optimize daily production schedules combined with energy cost, based on my background in combinatorial optimization and metaheuristics. I will furthermore take order selection into account, to allow for a greater degree of flexibility (i.e. produce specific orders today or not) such that expected energy cost can be taken into account better. This way renewable energy can be used as efficiently as possible, e.g., by incorporating industrial batteries or by shifting energy demand to cheaper periods in time. In essence, I will develop an integrated approach which jointly considers production scheduling and energy sourcing, to contribute to the sustainable factory of the future.
