Project description

Research on the inflow and outflow in Brussels childcare in 2005 showed that: - There was a shortage of English accessible childcare. - An important part of the independent childcare supervision certificate from Child and Family was in fact French. - The independent childcare addition wielded very high prices. - Subsidized childcare was uneven: more affluent families were more likely to be found in their neighborhood subsidized child care than poorer households. - The criteria used controllers (. Eg who register first, get first place) discriminatory effects were single-parent families, families in poverty, parents with precarious work situation and immigrants. - These were therefore disadvantaged under-represented in subsidized childcare. Since then, several initiatives have been taken to address these concerns, including: - An increase of decrease for Brussels to expand childcare. - The 20% rule for the Flemish government which states that income-related facilities for at least 20% of their capacity to prioritize disadvantaged. - The priority enhancements nurseries who pay attention to the social function. - A support project, implemented by Resource Center, where managers are supported in regional groups to realize the social function. In this report we provide an extensive report of a study five years later, considering what the 2005 to 2010 trends are associated with the specified constraints.
