Project description

INDU-ZERO "Industrialisation of house renovations towards energy-neutral" is a European research project in Interreg North-Sea Region (01/07/2018 - 30/06/2021).

Renovation packages towards energy neutrality are to be the solution for quick and inexpensive sustainability improvements of existing homes in north western Europe.

Prefabricated systems have various advantages

  • complete renovation with energy systems (ventilation, heat pumps, PV) and windows integrated in the prefabricated elements
  • scaffold-free, fast installation
  • limited nuisance for the building user

The aim is to produce standard renovation packages at an industrial scale (at least 15,000 per year) for half the current price.

Role of Ghent University
The Building Physics research group of Ghent University will mainly focus on the performance evaluation of the innovative prefabricated panels. Next to that they will investigate the feasibility of prefabricated renovation packages for Belgian housing (in particular social housing)
