Nef is the viral protein crucial for immune evasion in HIV infection and AIDS. We measure its contribution to viral replication and transmission fitness. We want to identify relevant domains in the protein by using primary isolates and mutants. Our goal is to unravel the mechanism of Nef function on the molecular level.
