Project description

A novel, set-on-demand concrete composition (“Twin-mix”) for 3D concrete printing applications was recently developed on a lab scale. Experimental proof-of-concept tests indicated that the Twin-mix concrete has significant advantages over the existing commercially available 3D printable materials, which include very high buildability/construction rate, low shrinkage, improved cost-effectiveness, and low environmental impact. Through this project, we aim to increase the technology readiness level of Twin-mix concrete. Assessing the robustness and durability, developing the Twin-mix concrete in a pre-packaged format for easy industrial use, demonstrating the feasibility in the lab environment, and performing a preliminary market analysis will increase the technology readiness level and will provide a solid base for further commercialization of the pre-packaged Twin-mix material.
