Project description
This project will study gender relations and monsters in Oromo oral narratives, both as a way to map the gender-stereotypical discourse inherent in the narratives as well as the potentiality to focus on monsters as a means to overcome hierarchical structures and discriminatory practices. Especially as little is known about the gender categories in Oromo oral literature, this study will fill important gaps in gendered normative expectations as well as ways to provide alternatives.
