Project description

The project aims to design and analyze algorithms to extract digital information from physical communication signals. The focus is on

  • New frequency bands for wireless communications; ideally suited for use in conjunction with massive MIMO and small cells, but characterized by highly modified propagation conditions.
  • Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access techniques (NOMA). Thanks to NOMA, the available resources (time, spectrum and space) can be used more flexibly but the complexity of the optimal receivers is a major challenge.
  • Physical Layer Security, where measures are taken at the physical layer level with the aim of securing the communication system.
  • Multi-service techniques, which enable electromagnetic signals to be used simultaneously for digital communication and for another service (radar observations, positioning, energy generation, etc.).
