Project description

Healthy Aging in Ghent. An inspiration trajectory and strategic partnership where Ghent Elderly, the City of Ghent (An age-friendly city), GRAY researchers and relevant stakeholders come together according to the principle of an empowering academic workplace. The highlight is an inspiration day, planned in Maart 2022, which will be open to all Ghent elderly. The goal? Healthy and Happy Aging in Ghent.

The environment determines 75% of the health differences between the elderly. As consequence, the explanations for these differences have a complex interdisciplinary character. The proposed valorisation activity is a bundling of six research projects about the influence of physical and social environment on healthy aging. Adding perspectives of the elderly people, the City of Ghent and other stakeholders, will be of high value. In addition, on the inspiration day we will provide general insights about health promotion, based on our mission 'Dare to think positively about aging'.
