Project description

Following earlier work on heterogeneous integration of fixed wavelength DFB lasers on passive silicon waveguides,wavelength tunable DFB lasers on silicon will be investigated. Special silicon waveguides are required for thermally tunable lasers, , while indium phosphide layer structures are required for electronically tunable lasers special. The design of the silicon waveguides and the InP layer structures is of crucial importance.
