Project description

It is my intention to set up PhD research within the field of German literary studies (specifically around rhetoric, narratology and interdisciplinary applications thereof). While I have clear ideas about avenues for follow-up research, I also want to take into account the interests and skills of eligible candidates and of the colleague with whom I want to arrive at the required core funding via ‘pooling’ of funds (Prof B. Biebuyck). Target areas for cooperation many include multimodality, the question of spatial and temporal embodiment, interoception/proprioception, the description of body language etc, applying Digital Humanities not for large scale, infrastructure-level work or distant reading, but precisely for closer reading, for that which escapes attention. This would allow to continue our co-operation with other colleagues in the field of embodiment and embodied narratology (Marco Caracciolo), forensic stylistics (Thorsten Ries, Simone Rebora) and narrative medicine (Megan Milota), but also for new avenues for valorisation (whether or not in collaboration with audiology, psycholinguistics, remedial pedagogy, neurocognitive rehabilitation, ...). My previous FWO research project, which earned Dr Lore De Greve third place at the PhD cup, has shown the way to new methodological approaches.
