Project description

The demand for care will increase significantly in the coming decades due to aging, the rise of multimorbidity and chronic lifestyle diseases, technological developments, and changing societal aspirations. To keep up with the expected increase in care demand, employment in the broader care sector must rise sharply, while the working-age population is currently stagnating and is expected to decline slightly by 2040. The inability to meet the care demand threatens to lead to a care infarction.

The research project aims to quantitatively map the care infarction and examine to what extent traditional solutions, new collaborations between existing and new players, and new perspectives can contribute to managing a possible care infarction. In addition to classical economic and institutional analysis, a holistic perspective on this important societal challenge will be developed.
