Project description

The aim of this project is dual. The first aim is to obtain additional data to consolidate a joint filed patent application. The filed patent, amongst others, discloses the production of specific glycosides. The latter are innovative and versatile biosurfactant molecules, which can be further derivatised towards a myriad of biosurfactants by applying green chemistry. The second aim is to optimize and scale up industrially viable processes for the efficient production of these specific glycosides at pilot scale (BBEPP) allowing valorisation of the technology after the project. To attain these overarching aims, the project aims to: - increase efficiency and uniformity of glycoside production through strain- and process optimization (WP1) - increase efficiency and uniformity of glycoside production through process optimization (WP2) - define industrially relevant and techno-economic viable processes through process optimization and scale-up (WP2)
