Project description

"Building Biospheres" is an innovative project presented in the Belgian pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale. This groundbreaking exhibition gives plants a voice within architecture by equipping living trees in buildings with advanced sensor technology.

By literally giving plants a voice in architecture, the project aims to create a paradigm shift in how we can integrate nature into indoor climate control. The Belgian pavilion serves as a prototype to show that trees can control the microclimate resulting in a pleasant visitor experience. This exhibition demonstrates how nature and technology can collaborate to create sustainable architectural environments.
