Project description
Novel therapeutic strategies against microbial infections remain limited. In this interdisciplinary project we will investigate the host ISG15 system, induced to counteract a wide range of viral and bacterial pathogens. It’s function relies on linkage of the ISG15 molecule to cellular and microbial proteins. Species-specific aspects of the system will be analyzed to examine the therapeutic potential in humans.
