Project description

ILVO and the Department of Crop Protection (Ghent University) turn in this research proposal their expertise to achieve the required goals together. This is done primarily rely on their own research and existing literature. Both partners are hereby responsible for the implementation of a number of work packages. In a first work package is the introduction (pathways, matrix) of nysius examined in our country, and an efficient monitoring and detection for this bug set point. The geographical distribution is examined in a second work package and collects information about the host plants (wild herbaceous plants and agricultural crops), the potential economic loss, life cycle and potential natural enemies of the insect in our region. In work package 3, the damage from the bug evaluated at the young stage of some crops in the field and under laboratory conditions. Work package 4 finally some recognized and unrecognized insecticides tested for their toxicity against various life stages of this bug, with a view to a possible fight. On the basis of the research results obtained measures can be represented in terms of the introduction prevention and control of N. huttoni in agricultural crops. The historic cooperation and complementarity between the two research groups will take place the performance of the tasks in a coherent way. The project has both fundamental and practical information biologisce yield and also holds a methodological added value.
