Project description

Galapagos aims to obtein gene expression kinetics occurring during liver fibrosis for the dlscove1y and validation

of drug targets. To this end, transcriptomics studies will be performed using biopsies from liver fibrosis patients

and from healthy liver tissue. Blood samples from the same patients and 'control' subjects will be used to

correlate findings in liver tissue in search of potential liver fibrosis biomarkers.

In follow-up studies, targets of interest will be further studied at the protein level using the available biopsies

and blood samples, or at the functional level using cells derived from liver tissue.
