Projectomschrijving
De antioxidatieve/anti-inflammatoire effecten van heem oxygenase-1 (HO-1)/biliverdine reductase worden nagegaan in het maagdarmkanaal. In vitro worden peritoneale macrofagen en intestinale epitheliale cellen en in vivo worden muizen aan oxidatieve of bacteriële stress blootgesteld. De invloed hierop van inductie van endogeen HO-1 of van toediening van CO-vrijstellende molecules, biliverdine en bilirubine wordt geëvalueerd met studie van de betrokken cellulaire mechanismen.
