Project description
Ion exchange membranes used in resource recovery allow selective separation of ions from neutral molecules. However, their sensitivity to fouling decreases process efficiency and increases production cost. This project aims to modify membranes with polyelectrolytes using a layer by layer coating technique, to provide anti-fouling properties. Later, the coating can be ‘sacrificed’ with safe chemicals to coat a new layer.
