Project description

Terpenoids, the most diverse specialized metabolites, all share a similar biosynthesis involving cascade reactions resulting in structurally well-defined three-dimensional scaffolds. Terpene scaffolds are usually synthesized via long sequences of fragment-coupling reactions because biomimetic approaches are challenging to achieve. In this project, a hybrid approach towards terpene synthesis will be explored wherein scaffolds can be assembled by designing intermolecular cascade reactions.
