Project description

Evidence demonstrates that a direct coupling of neighboring cells via gap junction channels can promote the expansion of apoptotic cell death, to which hemichannels (half gap junction) can contribute via a paracrine communication pathway. The aim is to investigate the role of hemichannels and gap junctions in the spread of apoptosis and necrosis, and to identify the modulating signaling molecules.
