Project description

Diatom cell proliferation is light dependent. Recently, we identified for the diatom P. tricornutum a specific cyclin coordinating cell division with light. Through a combination of physiological and molecular techniques we aim to reveal the signaling cascades controlling expression this cyclin in response to a change in the light spectrum, and to understand how this information is used to activate cell division.
