Project description

We aim to characterize the interactions of the adaptive immune system with the primary effector cell type responsible for bone resorption, i.e. the osteoclast. The latter cell type is a crucial effector in the structural bone damage that is seen in patients with artritis. It is therefore important to characterize the mechanisms that lead to the aberrant activation of these cells in order to allow for the rational design of therapies.
