Project description
The thesis will be an analysis of the relationship between rewriting the Trojan War and commenting on the Iliad and the Odyssey in Philostratus' Heroikos. By insisting on the intellectual context of the second sophistic, this study will throw light on the sophist's using of rhetorical and exegetical tools in order to comment on Homeric fiction by fashioning fiction.
