Project description

The objective of this research project is to identify genera/species of plant-parasitic nematodes that are associated with tomato in Malawi and assess their economic impact on the production of the crop. The information obtained will be used to map up preventive, control and management strategies for the pest. It is envisaged that the results will in the long run contribute towards high and sustainable production of tomato in Malawi for the economic wellbeing of smallholder farmers who predominantly grow the crop for income.
