Project description
The main product of fast pyrolysis of biomass is pyrolysis oil. This oil is chemically very complex, highly oxygenated, has a high water content and a low pH. These properties prevent the direct use of this oil as transportation fuel. Within this project, possible ways to upgrade the oil by means of catalysts are investigated.
