Project description
Up to 20 years ago, water management and preventing bank erosion was based on engineering works using hard materials. Integrated water management is seeking to include ecological aspects in design and renewal of bank protection. A number of nature friendly bank protection types will be investigated in the field and in laboratory conditions, to study the reduction in ship wave loading resulting from vegetation.
