Although the formation of kaolinite subgroup minerals in tropical soils is widespread, there are still uncertainties regarding their formation. Using novel, quantitative X-ray diffraction analyses in combination with various advanced instrumental methods, two selected materials from the DR Congo will be studied to answer the research questions.
