Project description

Science communication Exploring to lay the chemical and biological space through the link between the three-dimensional structure of bio (molecules) and their physicochemical properties, chemical reactivity and function has been shown to be one of the revolutionary techniques on a methodological level in the (bio ) chemical sciences in the last century. This is structural information in the post-genomic era has become an integral part of the interdisciplinary research programs in both academia and industry. The consortium 3D SPACE unites academic talent and expertise coming from different branches from the Ghent University Association (AUG). This consortium aims to build a state-of-the-art platform for defining the structure of molecules at the atomic level. In particular, the requested infrastructure will be used in order to perform two critical experimental steps needed for the dissolution of the molecular structure. These are the crystallization of a given molecule to a single crystal and to characterize these then become structurally, by means of X-ray diffraction.
