Project description
Multiscale structures (bone, bamboo,...) exhibit superior performance properties while remaining lightweight, robust and multifunctional. They have traditionally been difficult to achieve in concrete because of the pouring process with conventional formwork. Recently, additive manufacturing techniques for concrete, such as 3D printing, make this possible. The project aims to investigate the topological optimization of concrete multiscale structures with different infill patterns through a combination of numerical analysis and testing.
