Project description

A sharp increase has been seen worldwide in contamination of poultry meat with Salmonella Infantis strains carrying the pESI megaplasmid, on which hypothetical virulence genes are located. We here aim to unravel the role of the pESI plasmid and its hypothetical virulence genes, using plasmid and gene deletion mutants and in vitro and in vivo phenotypical analysis.
