Project description

The goal of this interdisciplinary research proposal is to develop and use innovative computational biomechanics and image processing methods to enhance interventional radiology applications. These applications include pretreatment planning, vascular mapping, catheter navigation and tracking, computational modelling of hemodynamics and embolization etc. The methods developed will be applicable for a range of interventional radiologic procedures, including for example transarterial embolization procedures for patients with liver cancer, and embolization procedures for patients with an arteriovenous malformation in the cerebral circulation. Doing so, in the longer term, this project aims to push the boundaries of treatment planning in interventional radiology.
