Project description

This project aims at understanding epidemiological patterns of malaria infection in wild chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) populations, more specifically the effect of age, pregnancy, STLV infection and climate on Plasmodium infection. This will be performed through non-invasive data collection from wild habituated chimpanzee groups at the Tai Chimpanzee Project in Cote d'Ivoire, and sample analysis at the Robert Koch-Institut, Berlin, Germany.
